Firefox 3 launches with a world record
Thursday, 3rd July 2008 by Musaul Karim
With 8,002,530 Firefox enters the Guiness Book of World Records for “largest number of
software downloads in 24 hours.” All is not great though, it does have a security vulnerability which hasn’t been patched yet. So expect version 3.0.0.1 pretty soon. It also failed to raise the Firefox market share for global usage above 20%, so most people were just upgrading from older firefox rather than switching from a different browser.
They’re already working on the next version with alpha releases for Firefox 3.1 due soon and the final being due before the end of the year.
